Florida’s Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday is for Seniors Too!

Florida tax-holiday-Mark your calendars: Florida’s back-to-school sales tax holiday runs for three days from August 5th to the 7th.

And it’s not just for kids! The bad news is many things about Florida’s back-to-school sales tax holiday have changed, and it now only lasts 3 days, but the good news is Seniors can still save 6% sales taxes on clothing items of $60 or less, down from $100 per item last year.

Not all business establishments are required to participate this year so shop wisely. Please note that personal computers and computer-related accessories are not included this year.

The rules, exemptions, and full list of what items are eligible for tax free status can be found HERE. If you are a homebound Senior, rest assured the tax exemption applies to all purchases of eligible items made by mail order or through the internet. You can buy more than one tax-exempt item at a time because the exemption is based on the
sales price of each item, not the total sales check.  More good news – there is no limit on the number of tax-exempt items you can buy!
