September is Healthy Aging Month!

Healthy Aging Month is an annual observance designed to focus Seniors at Home - Seniors’ attention on the positive aspects of getting older! It is meant to provide inspiration to adults over 50 years of age to improve their physical, mental, and social well being.

Stand up straight, start smiling, saunter don’t shuffle! Paul McCartney of the Beatles is 74 years young, and after 59 years of songwriting and performing, is still living the dream. You can too.

The trick is to live better not just longer. Start here:

     1)  Be positive in your conversation and actions, stop whining and complaining

     2)  Exercise for both your body and your brain, try yoga

     3)  Volunteer if you are not working, get engaged with a cause

     4)  Make new friends and rekindle relationships with old friends

     5)  Find fiber

     6)  Spice up your cooking and cuisine, try the Mediterranean Diet

     7)  Make getting a good night sleep sacred

     8)  Use mind over memory – make a list

     9)  Beat the blues – don’t dwell on the past, get help for depression

     10) Discuss your drugs with the doctor – cut down on prescriptions you don’t need anymore
